Simulation and Resource Management

September 07, 20213 minutes read

44 % of all ship casualty events are navigational casualties, constituted by collision, contact and grounding/stranding. From a total of 1801 accident events analysed by EMSA during the investigations, 54% were attributed to ‘human action’ category and 28% to ‘system/equipment failures’. -European Maritime Safety Agency 2020 Report

Crew Competence Enhancement - considering the significant effect of human action, particularly on ship related operation; training, skills and experience was by far the first area that was targeted by Safety Recommendations/Actions.

GigaMare's Ship Simulator and Bridge Teamwork (with BRM) focuses to provide trainees with the experience in handling ships under various conditions and will make a more effective contribution to the bridge team during ship maneuvering in normal and emergency situations.

TARGET GROUP : Operational Level, Management Level Officers, and Cadets

DURATION OF THE COURSE : 5 working days

LOCATION OF THE TRAINING : Subic Bay Freeport Zone

Having full access to Wärtsilä’s library of ship models and exercise areas, GigaMare Simulation and Research Center’s two ship handling bridges can be maximized to prompt an immersive learning environment to the crew. Watch the video below and take a glimpse on the bridges’ multi-function displays, controls, and visualization features (Bridge 1 with Wärtsilä NACOS Platinum Equipment, Bridge 2 with Wärtsilä TRANSAS Equipment).
